Die casting is especially suitable for casting large quantity of small and medium-size casting pieces, so die casting is the most widely applied casting craft. Compared with other casting technologies, die casting parts are more smooth and dimension conformity.

Die casting parts

Traditional die casting craft mainly consists of four steps or is called high-pressure casting. These four steps include mold preparation, filling, injection and shakeout, and they are the ground of various modified pressure casting process. During the preparation process, lubricant should be applied to the inner cavity of the mold. The lubricant can help control the temperature of the mold as well as demould casting pieces. Then the mold can be closed, and the molten metal can be injected into the mold with high pressure. The pressure is between 10-175 MPa. After the molten metal fills the mold, the pressure will be maintained until the casting piece is solidified. Then the pushrod will push out all the casting pieces. Since one mold may have several mold cavities, several casting pieces may be produced at one time of casting. The shakeout process needs separation of slags, including the mold orifice, flowing channel, running gate and the fin. This process is usually completed through special trimming of extrusion casting pieces. Other shakeout methods include sawing and grinding.
